Prep Concrete with Helix
Ready to prep concrete with your Helix? Don’t get ahead of yourself, there’s plenty to consider before you start. Planetary or Direct? Brazed or Metal Bond Diamonds? Weights or no weights? There’s a lot to decide so it can be tough to be confident in your choice. We hope to help you make those decisions with confidence by helping you understand which situation is right for each set of tooling.
The Tooling
Get the most bang for your buck with Metal Bond Diamonds.
On really tough concrete, use the 9504-25 Super Soft, Single Bar Diamond to break open the concrete.
9508-16 Medium Bond, 16 Grit Full Bar Diamond, or the Soft Bond Version on hard concrete
9508-30 Medium Bond, 30 Grit Full Bar Diamond, or the Soft Bond Version on hard concrete
9507-16 Medium Bond, 16 Grit Half Bar Diamond, or the Hard Bond Version on soft concrete
9507-30 Medium Bond, 30 Grit Half Bar Diamond, or the Hard Bond Version on soft concrete
A complete setup of this tooling consists of 6 pieces of tooling – 2 pieces per satellite.
If you are using the satellites, we recommend installing six (6) 9500 Blanks. Blanks protect the concrete from unwanted scratching. Install these on any open magnets on your satellites.
For a more aggressive profile, attach the tooling directly to the grind and scrape plate.
Brazed Diamonds expose all diamonds at once, creating a more aggressive profile in a shorter amount of time. These pieces of tooling are about speed, saving time, and getting the job done.
Brazed Trapezoid Diamonds have increased head pressure and get into highs and lows more efficiently.
9522-16 16 Grit Brazed Trapezoid Diamond
9522-30 30 Grit Brazed Trapezoid Diamond
9522-50 50 Grit Brazed Trapezoid Diamond
9522-100 100 Grit Brazed Trapezoid Diamond
5-Inch Brazed Diamonds are better suited for very flat concrete because they don’t get into the highs and lows like the trapezoids.
9235-16 16 Grit 5-Inch Brazed Diamond
9235-30 30 Grit 5-Inch Brazed Diamond
9235-50 50 Grit 5-Inch Brazed Diamond
9235-100 100 Grit 5-Inch Brazed Diamond
Machine Setup
Machine Speed: Start by setting your machine to high and decreasing to low if the diamonds glaze.
Weights: Install all weights to add head pressure and force the tooling into the concrete.
