How tooling angle impacts productivity

The angle at which the scraper blade meets the floor affects how efficiently it can cut through or lift the material. An optimal angle ensures the blade removes the material effectively without too much resistance. Blade angle adjustment on a ride-on scraper is achieved through adjusting the height and angle of the slide plate. This can be done manually or from a seated position.

National’s Dual-lift technology on ride-on scrapers introduced a way to adjust your blade angle from a seated position on the machine. This is a game-changer for flooring removal because the substrate is never perfectly flat.  To slightly adjust your angle, while seated, on a shallow spot or over a ridge improves efficiency & ROI on the job.

Steep blade angle

A steep angle is best for your flat or self-scoring carpet blades. Removal of soft goods typically requires a higher angle. Shallow blade angle

A shallow angle is ideal for hard goods removal, whether you are using a shank or a blade. When using a shank to scrape up hard goods with a walk-behind or ride-on scraper set the back end, so it is barely lifted off the ground. This position allows the shank to get underneath the flooring as opposed to battering into the side of it.
