8-inch shot blasters are a great companion machine to larger equipment, and small enough to fit into tight spaces. This size machine is for small spaces, and at just over 100lbs is very easy to get in and out of a van or truck bed. It’s companion dust collector, the DL2000, has the same great compact design.
A lot of contractors use the A95 for one day garages, small offices, or basements. This machine gives you a CSP right around 3. If you are getting into cementitious overlays you need to look for a more powerful machine. The A95 8-inch shot blaster uses 110V power, which does limit it’s uses.
The best use for this machine is in conjunction with another machine. On a 1-2 day garage floor coating install, the crew can tackle different parts of the floor prep at the same time. While one person is grinding the concrete floor, another can use the A95 over the expansion joints and around the perimeter of the space. The beads of shot will get down into the cracks and clean and profile the joint, which will improve the lifespan and adhesion of a coating.
We do not recommend using an 8-inch shot blaster for prep on a concrete floor with a thin mill overlay. The slight overlap of the shot blasting rows will show through a thin top coat. Great in dozens of applications, an 8-inch shot blaster is a wise addition to your surface prep equipment.
