Rogue: Adjust Your Machine for Carpet, Ceramic Tile, and Epoxy Removal

Rogue 28 Pound Side Slide Weight

National Flooring Equipment’s Rogue walk-behind scraper stands out for its ability to adapt to a variety of flooring removal projects. With a fully adjustable front end and infinite blade angle adjustment, the Rogue can quickly transition from carpet removal to ceramic tile or epoxy scraping. With the right setup, this versatile machine delivers fast, efficient results across multiple flooring types.

Below are a few recommended starting points to help you dial in your Rogue for different removal applications.

Carpet Removal with the Rogue

Removing carpet with the Rogue is straightforward with a few simple adjustments.

Start by moving the side weights to the middle or forward position. This increases head pressure over the cutting head, helping the blade stay engaged with the flooring.

For tooling, keep both a self-scoring blade and a flat blade on hand. We recommend the 6239-BU self-scoring blade, which measures 2″ x 6″. Its narrower width increases downward pressure and improves cutting efficiency when removing carpet.

Set the blade angle in the middle-to-high range, and begin at a slower speed. Once the blade is consistently getting underneath the material, you can gradually increase speed.

Ceramic Tile Removal with the Rogue

When preparing the Rogue for ceramic tile removal, start with the proper tooling.

While some tile can be removed with a flat blade, we recommend using a carbide shank for the most effective results. The 7281-1GV angled 1-inch shank is designed to break through tile in a single pass.

Shanks compatible with the Rogue’s quick-change tooling system include “GV” in the part number, making them easy to identify.

For tile removal, adjust the front end of the machine into a low blade angle, keeping the shank nearly flat to the floor. This positioning helps the shank slide underneath the tile instead of striking it head-on, improving removal efficiency.

Epoxy Removal with the Rogue

For epoxy floor scraping, start with several sharp flat blades ready to rotate as they wear.

Set the blade angle toward the higher end of the adjustment range, and begin at a slow travel speed. Allow the blade to work underneath the coating before increasing speed. As the material begins to release more easily, you can gradually speed up the machine to maintain productivity.

Get the Most Out of Your Rogue

The Rogue’s adjustable front end and quick-change tooling make it one of the most versatile walk-behind scrapers available. With the right setup for each flooring type, contractors can move quickly from carpet to tile to coatings without changing machines.
